line of symmetry definition

Let us learn about line of symmetry definition

-->Certain geometric diagrams can be divided into 2 identical parts by a line passing through the diagrams. These diagrams are said to be symmetrical about that line, & the lines are called the lines of symmetry or axis of symmetry. Lines of symmetry are also said to be as mirror lines, because the part of the diagrams on 1 side of the line looks like a mirror image of the part of the diagrams on the other side of the line. Lines of symmetry of diagrams are also referred to as the axis of symmetry, since on rotating the diagrams about that line by 180 degrees 1 half is the reflection of the other half. The "Line of Symmetry" is the imaginary line where you could fold the image & have both halves match exactly. Line of symmetry is a line that divides diagrams into 2 congruent parts, each of which is the mirror image of the other. When the diagrams having a line of symmetry are folded along the line of symmetry, the 2 parts should coincide.
